Over the hill and far away...

...one very wet, rainy day in November, a family of rubber ducks went out to the pond just as they had done everyday before. A short while into their swim they had made it to the centre of the pond where all the best things to eat could be found, but then, the rain began the fall very heavily.
The level of the pond rose too fast for the duck family, their lack of little flipper feet ment they couldn't paddle to the edge of the pond to shelter. Before they knew what was happening, a current came and washed all the ducks in different directions. Some were carried South, some North, East and West until all the ducks were seperated from each other. The land around the pond was completely flooded and big pools of water had been left in roads, pavements and fields. Because the rubber ducks have no flipper feet, they had to stay in the water where they landed. Now the family are seperated, living in different areas of the North West of England. They can be found in ponds, rivers, puddles, docks even sometimes in sinks or bird baths! Basically anywhere that water can be found.

All the missing ducks have this blog address on their bottoms. If you are here because you have found a rubber duck then please...

...Tell us the street or area you saw them
...If possible take a photograph and send the information to us at
join-in@hotmail.com
...If you have picked up the duck then please take care of it!

Why did this happen to the ducks?

The real reason for the ducks seperation is to hightlight the change in weather systems all over the world. Climate change is bringing on the rise of sea levels and also the increase of hurricanes and floods, which as we have all witnessed through images in the media in the past five years alone, cause massive human and material devastation. Now, I am not here to preach, I am not a climate change protester, activist or even protagonist. I do not do many things that we are told to do in order to help the environment, I do however as an artist, have the means to try and communicate a message in a colourful and thoughtful way so that others will think about this issue. I am not asking everyone to change their ways over night, that could never happen. What I do ask is that we all concider the idea of having ducks living in the newly formed pond in the middle of our street, or the river where once was a road. This is in some area's, a certainty, in some a possiblity, but in all situations, it is no longer a just a nursery rhyme.
